A Legacy of Love and Unity
The S Club was created by Willie Skannal, in 1984. Shortly after its inception, he wrote the family's mission statement, which emphasized the values of love and unity that would guide our family through the years. Complementing this, Lillie Skannal, his wife, wrote the family's bylaws, providing a structured framework for our interactions and decisions.
Our first family reunion took place in 1985, marking the beginning of a cherished tradition that continues to this day.
The S Club consists of monthly Zoom meetings held on the last Sunday of each month at 5:00 PM Central. These meetings are a cornerstone of our family's connectivity and collective decision-making process.
The S Club also branches off into different entities, each with a specific focus:
· Family Reunion Committee: Organizes and plans our annual family reunions, ensuring that each gathering is memorable and full of joy.
· Fundraising Committee: Develops and implements strategies to raise funds for family activities and causes, strengthening our financial support system.
· Social Committee: Plans social events and activities that foster camaraderie and fun among family members.
Each decision made within the S Club is put to a family vote, ensuring that every member has a voice and that our actions reflect the collective will of the Skannal family.
This structure not only keeps us organized but also reaffirms our commitment to the values of love, unity, and mutual respect that our parents instilled in us. The S Club is more than just a family organization; it is a testament to the enduring legacy of Willie and Lillie Skannal.
We honor family birthdays, births, graduations, weddings, and condolences by sending flowers and/or cards. These gesture ensures that each significant event in the lives of our family members are recognized and celebrated.
The family is required to pay monthly dues which are due on the first of each month. The dues collected play a crucial role in sustaining the various activities and support systems in place for the family.
Funds from the monthly dues are used for:
When a family member is in financial crisis, assistance can be requested and is placed for the family to vote on. If the voting passes, the funds are given as a loan which is paid back in monthly installments free of interest. This system ensures that financial aid is provided fairly and responsibly, with the collective agreement of the family.
This program not only fosters a sense of togetherness and mutual support but also ensures that our family remains resilient and united through the celebration of milestones and provision of necessary aid during tough times.

Our Tradition and Efforts
We pride ourselves on the democratic process. Every two years, members come together to vote for new officers. This bi-yearly election ensures that leadership remains fresh and responsive to the changing needs of our family. The process involves a nomination stage, where potential candidates are suggested by members, followed by the voting taking place, usually through yay/nay.
One of the highlights of our calendar is the biannual family reunion. This cherished event is made possible through the registration fees collected from family members . These reunions serve as a wonderful opportunity for families to reconnect, share memories, and celebrate their collective heritage.
The reunion is meticulously planned to ensure everyone has a memorable experience. Activities range from communal meals and games to historical tours and storytelling sessions. Every family member's involvement is crucial in making these events successful, and the registration fees help cover the costs associated with organizing such a special event.
To facilitate the logistics of our family fellowships, we engage in various fundraising activities. The funds raised are sometimes allocated to chartering a Greyhound bus. Additionally, the fundraising covers the hotel stay for the bus driver(s), making their accommodation stress-free.
Fundraising activities can include events such as candy, trash bags sales, charity events, carnivals, car wash, and yard sales.
The bi-yearly voting for new officers, along with the biannual family reunions and effective fundraising, significantly impact our family. Voting for new officers encourages active participation among members, ensuring that the leadership is representative and accountable. Family reunions strengthen bonds between members and create lasting memories. Fundraising not only supports logistical needs but also brings members together in a shared purpose.
